Im super glad you had that helmet on.  People here think they are useless.  Im VERY happy you survived the way you did.  th bike, I know how that would be crushing my spirit too.  I hope you can get $ or rebuild your bike.   Also, heal well and make that sucker pay for all the medical bills.

Glad to hear you're going to be ok. In the big picture that's what counts.

Don't forget, you riding gear may very well be covered by insurance too.   Make sure you ask your agent.  Obviously your helmet is toast but with your description of how you went down your jacket, gloves, boots, etc. did their job and are also done.

Good point, you said the helmet bounced so definitely get a new one and if you where wearing any other riding gear it should be covered.
How's the injuries coming along?

Feeling a little better each day. Last big question is my elbow, and I'll be seeing a specialist on Tuesday for that. Also hope to meet with the insurance agent this week to get all of that figured out. Besides the bike a have a short list of gear and personal belongs damaged during the crash, hopefully it's all covered. Ready to move on from this whole experience.when I get around to it I'll try to remember to toss up a few pictures...

Quick update....

Insurance has finally run it's course. Totalled the bike and I got some cash in hand. After getting a chance to take a closer look the bike doesn't seem as bad as I first thought. Mostly cosmetic I think. Busted to stator cover may be the only thing from trying to fire it up. Then it's just a lot of broken, scraped, and dented parts. Will likely never be as clean as it once was, but she will ride again.

Thinking I'm going to take my insurance funds and pick up a used mid size cruiser, probably a Suzuki C50. Excited to fix my 750, but I'm ready to ride now and I may never have this chance or cash again to bike a newer model bike. Going to sell off one of my projects to help with the purchase. A 70 750 motor, 73 750 roller, and a set of carbs.

Healing up decent. I'll have an MRI on my shoulder for some lingering pain, but I'm keeping my hopes high for nothing major.

It could be cleaner if you take the time to do it and want to spend the money.

Glad to hear it's working out for ya.

Saw your add for the engine etc on CL, price seems very fair.
Before sinking a lot of money into the old bike check to make sure the crank is not bent on the stator end since you broke that cover. I laid one down hard once and broke the cover. Bought new handlebars, tank etc etc, had it pretty again and when I slipped on the replacement cover found out the end of the crank was bent and had a wobble and there was not enough clearance in the cover for the crank end/flywheel to turn without rubbing and jamming.  ARGGG- Had to slip in a new used crank !!!
Simply turn over the engine with the cover off and look for any little small wobble on the end  ;)
Here is a nice C50 that just popped up a couple miles down from my house right off 131. Nice neighborhood, think I may have been to their house before. Is this price high for these ??  http://kalamazoo.craigslist.org/mcy/4479469994.html

That's good advice, I will definitly do that. Lost a lot of oil, is there usually oil onside that cover? One if my biggest concerns was cracking the case...

Yes there is some oil inside there. Check my updated previous post with the C50 link.

I did see that c50 in my search.... Just out side my price range though. Learned a valuable lesson about what to put down for agreed value on my insurance....
