Just picked up this CB750

So I recently bought a brand new Triumph Bonneville T100, and my CB550 wasn't getting ridden so I sold it to offset the  cost of the new bike.  I thought I was out of the SOHC game, but then this 750 popped up in my area:



Engine is stuck from sitting, but otherwise very clean. I'm hoping I can free the pistons with a good soak, and then start sorting it out.  The Triumph is just too maintenance-free, I need something that makes me want to smash my head against the wall.

That looks like a nice bike mate, what is it, a K6? That seat looks comfy! I've got a Triumph Rocket III, and it's a great bike, but I get more looks on my CB750, and I think it's more fun to ride too! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yep, nice find. I know how you feel, I went 'modern' for a while and the boredom drove me nuts! Happy tinkering and welcome back!

So it looks like this has passed through the hands of someone that knows what they were doing. Am I correct in thinking that the plain black gas tank was not a factory option?  If not, it's been professionally painted.  The front rotor has been drilled.  What look like Progressive shocks on the back.  Aftermarket coil/spark plug wires.  Haven't taken a look inside yet, but I'm hoping for some hidden performance mods.

Correct, Black was not a color 'till '77. The black bits on your engine are not stock either and of course, the exhaust. Nice find.

Try the ATF/Acetone trick to free the stuck engine, does not look like it has been sitting long. Good Luck.

Suggest shifting tranny to an upper gear and rolling the bike BACKWARDS.  Its worked for me, one time it was right in front to seller AFTER I had paid and had all the paperwork.
