The folks over here can help you with the details.
http://cb750sandcastonly.com/smf_forum/index.php

This is a pretty exclusive club in more ways than one it turns out. I tried several times to register 2 years ago with no success.

Currently their site says no registrations due to spam, I sent an email to the address but have not heard back. Deja vue lol.

The original title to my thread was searching for someone that could help me get into the sandcast forum.

754 I agree it's a good looking bike, lower bars would look the business with that exhaust. I have an RD400 all stock but sporting 'superbike' bars and it looks great!

Was the bike you sold in similar condition to this one? Let's assume all the stock bits are accounted for.

Don't know maybe it's my 59 year old eyes but it almost looks like id. label where the vin# should be has been painted over. Different shade of silver :-\

Dhall from what I understand on the sandcast bikes that is blank and the VIN is on the other side of the neck. I have not been back there to verify yet....

or maybe someone gave the frame a bit of a touch up with some black paint and a little paint brush?
Still an awesome score and an interesting thread!

Thanks everyone! This truly is once in a lifetime.

I spoke with the seller this am and am now more confident than ever that all the OEM bits are accounted for. She has the tool kits, service manuals, original titles, the whole deal. This bike was made 2 months before I was born lol.

She is traveling and not due back until next thursday. I will be over then to take inventory then return to get the bikes. I love this stuff!

My bike had most of the parts , faded tank, cracked sidecovers, I changed the headlight and ears, seat was pretty good as small tear or maybe two. i put a set of no number pipes on it that needed a bit of work..pretty complete with lots of early parts.

So you flipped the sandcast? Did you buy the other bikes too?

My excitement at finding one went past the money, maybe I'm just fortunate but I found a way to afford to keep it.
I almost have history with mine, I knew the original owner and his son, as did my brother, the guy that assembled it in 1969 cleaned the carbs for me and I was friends with the guy that took care of it before he passed away.

Nice, yeah I did not want something so valuable in my garage - they also cost quite a bit to restore. Cool bikes for sure. I also have a '70 750 that I will sell as a runner. It is an early bike and has a few sandcast parts on it.

You are almost certainly better off to source non-sandcast replacements for the parts on your '70 and sell the sandcast parts separately.

Danny I think what gives the bike value is the early parts on it. It has four cable carbs, short neck fuel tap, two hole fender, and 10mm mirrors. Maybe more, I don't know much about these bikes.

Don the bike is #42xxx, the frame and engine are 110 digits apart. It is complete but for the exhaust but has a Bassani 4 into 1. Pods too. Shows 29k, I have no reason to think it will not run well.

Did you sell the sandcast?  After waiting for the seller to come around?
One option, if you still have the sandcast, is to increase your homeowners 'personal property' coverage in case of loss, or have an umbrella policy.

I have one myself, picture of the vin, which at this point in the manufacturing was on the left side of the gooseneck:

I'm eventually getting around to the resto, for now I just keep the engine turned over periodically.

It is a real iconic early model, sort of like the H2 but more valuable even than the H2's are.   Once you have one it is hard to part with, they don't come up often.

He is most likely thinking the black faced gauges are Sandcast. He most likely doesn't know the shape of the gear mechanism housing will let tell him if  it is.

Nope, not the gauges. Short neck fuel tap? Maybe it is KO. 10mm mirrors, those are sandcast I believe. Two hole rear fender, I am thinking that is a sandcast part. Carbs with individual cables, also sandcast imo.

Am I wrong here?

Tews you may know that sandcast gauges have glass faces, all others plastic. Just another way to identify them.

Cool, I have a 1014xxx serial#  with a K4 engine and a 104xxxxx, engine, I saw an engine for sale almost correct for the 1014xxx but it was numbered a little too early.

I have the first 750 sold here, Know where the second one is, and own what's possibly the third one sold at our local dealer.

Tews doesn't know that because. He knows that all Sandcast and ALL KO are plastic instruments. And 4 cable carbs.  Not sure where you got your ideas..maybe ebay?

So tell us a price and let it go to someone that will use it....

Don't be rude. He chased it, he put in the time, it his his to do whatever the hell he wants with it and you have absolutely zero reason to be a douche and insult him over his choice.

In post #62 he said he want to sell it.. So let us know how much.
The longer he has it the more he seems to think it has sandcast stuff, and it likely does not. At least it did not leave the factory with any.  And it's a late KO. 2000 from the end.. Simply not the same value as an early KO..
