Let's keep the pics pg so we don't have RB in traction from the beating his daughter gives him for sharing.  Or the wife.

Congrats on the granddaughter!

Develop her balance well and she can ride anything on two wheels.

Congrats, man!

OK, so I'll be the first to ask the question:  does she get one of the existing 550's?  Or will you go make a special "pink" or some other color one just for her?

Thanks all.
Wife was reading over my shoulder, says no pink or otherwise motorcycle for the babe....we'll see.
I'm liking the idea of finishing up that sidecar project that's been on the back burner for a while, guessing she'll have to get a bit older for a ride in that, but time goes fast.
And thanks Tews, I was doing the math for her first ride on a 550, if she's 7, if I'm lucky, I'll be like 64ish, all grey, senile , probably would have forgotten how to ride...now there's something to look forward to... perhaps I should take her sooner. ;D

Sounds like it's time to break out the old Monty Python line:
"HELP, HELP, I'M BEING REPRESSED!"  :D

I'm thinking the sidecar sounds like a great idea.  Get her hooked on a bit of "wind therapy" and then she'll want to ride all on her own.  Let the little one wrap grandma around her little finger and when she says, "Nana...can i PLEAAAASE ride the motorcycle?", I suspect your wife might cave.

Yes Cal, the reversed car seat would have to happen for safety's sake. Don't know if it would fit in my Velorex yet.
And daughter and SIL are Harley people...so it's gonna be a race to see what bike she rides on first. Hopefully they'll be sensible and wait a while.... cause the Velorex isn't ready yet. :)

Congrats on the grand baby and daughter's successful labor. It is not fun waiting. My wife had back laborwwith both kids and no epidural.  She wanted it for second but nurses dissappeared for an hour or so & by then things were progressing quicker and it was too late.

Maybe he has a smile like that of "Pops" (Arnold Schwarzenegger) in latest Terminator movie....disturbing smile.
She's actually cute, lots of babies aren't.  (True)
spoil her well but have her be well disciplined and obedient or she will be a nightmare.  Seen ir in some cousin's kids who didn't nip bad behavior in the bud. It is biting them and will continue to

So the seat dilemma continues, so today I tried an alternative to vinyl. Leather.I was looking at some black deer hide yesterday at a flea market, then this guy shows me some really soft black cowhide , so soft. hole cow ,$20,should have gotten a ton of those, I'll see if he's there next week for sure.
I stretched it over a decent seat pan on the black cherry 500, one piece, then stretched it again and sent it home, Ohhh , I really like the feel of that stuff, and it stretched to a wrinkle free finish with no seems. I banded it with that plastic edging usually found on windjammers ( finally found a use for them), it was so easy I can't believe I never thought of it before. There will be pics when the bike is finished.

My town has a Sam Elliot look alike ( spittin image) in it already....rides a Yamaha , he looks tough if he stays silent, but it don't last long, once he starts to yapping in a NY mountain region drawl, there's no stoppin him. He's a nice guy , couldn't hurt a fly. But lots of fun to bump into now and then.
Yeah, and he has that hair too. Got to get the name of his barber.

First time on the ice, needed to check the welds so I decided to stress it by attempting  360's , then check my welds.
It took a few trys to get it to spin, this was not a 360 in the film, but it was fun to do . higher speeds each time , I was waiting to get thrown but it never did. very stable in a slide but the steering could have bit a little harder for my taste. It took two up easily
The noise is about the drivechain, had 3 tentioners fail, then went with a 1/2 link, that worked.
It was all very silly but after a bit of cold weather and no end in sight..... gotta ride something.

#3 engine dilemma is over, decision on engine size finally made, I think. Well  probably.
So I have the last rebuilt 550 engine that was hit by the flood that hasn't been rebuilt yet with new chains, clutch etc...
I'm guessing it's pretty f'ed inside, but I want the chains and I'm interested to see how bad it is after all this time.
I also have a 550 engine that I didn't rebuild from another bike that I just popped in a fresh 500 in that I rebuilt , left it on a shelf for a rainy day.
So these two engines are on the rack now waiting to get broke down finally. There is only one other seized 550 engine that needs rebuild, it's the 77 that followed me home engine. I'm thinking yeah that too, why not right?okay so that's 3 550 engines to play with, so if I end up with an extra 550 engine it can go in my fave 500.
Then put the 500 engine from my fave in #3 ,
put the  fresh 550 in  my fave ,
and if there's a spare fresh 550,it can go on the shelf.
Then I can play with the 500 engines later on.
Sounds like a plan anyhow...
