Russ Collins Sr. R.I.P.
« on: May 11, 2014, 08:23:45 PM »
Guys, please pray for Russ Sr. and family. He was in Hawaii and the chemo put him in the hospital. He's on a respirator. His daughter, Debbie( a Doctor) went down yesterday or day before. Now David and Russ Jr. on the way. Face book the easiest way to comment or keep up. We so want him to be there to watch his son's take the fantastic creations of his down the track once again! And me and the drag racing world want to be there with him! Bill

My family thanks you all for your kind words.

My brother and I are particularly grateful to all you SOHC techies that have and will continue to inspire and teach us, what has long been forgotten.

I do not have to go on here about what a great man my Dad was....but I'd like to share a fitting picture of the man in his element....if the technology will allow...

I was there, the 1st day the triple ran down Irwindale Raceway....we rented the track....I think mostly because my Dad was a little frightened at the prospect of a full on blast. I remember...he came back from a particularly hairy, centerline hugging run... "I need more tire" ....he was funny like that...but also serious. We only had the 6" tire on that 850 lb behemoth!

He survived not only a horrendous TF bike crash but an equally impressive TF car wreck and many in between that most mortals would have taken heed...not him.

He "accidentally" taught me that motorcycle drag racing was "life affirming" not "life threatening".

God Speed......seems like a no brainer statement for the King of Speed.

I am really going to miss his sense of humor..."Jr. when are you going to stop running parts wash and put some nitro in that thing".

Russ Collins Jr.
