It's ethanol in pump gasoline, usually 10%. Methanol is what's in gas line antifreeze (and used as fuel in some race bikes and race cars).
If you can't find any ethanol free gasoline (and it's getting harder) then using" racing fuel" is an option but damn it's expensive. Plus what happens when you ride more than half a tank from home? Sometimes you can find ethanol free gasoline at marinas, always at airports but getting an airport fuel supplier to fill up your bike will be a trick.
Technically it's illegal to use racing fuel or avgas on public highways but I don't believe anyone is checking.
There are lots of instructions online for removing ethanol from pump gas, this would be way cheaper than buying racing fuel by the jerrycan. But... I would avoid messing with gasoline that way on a regular basis - it's just too dangerous.
