CB350F Brake Pedal Query
« on: May 12, 2014, 02:10:49 AM »
Hi all,

Recently put a new exhaust on my '72 CB350F. Its a CB400F exhaust (from 4into1) and looks and sounds great with the Emgo Cafe muffler (also from 4into1).
My problem is that now the brake will not work (see pic below). There is no travel in the pedal because it hits the exhaust. I've tried adjusting it (the pedal) but that doesn't help.

Obviously i checked whether or not the 400F exhaust would fit the 350F, and having looked here and on dotheton, it was clear that the exhausts should be completely interchangeable.

Anyone had this trouble before?

The CB400F foot pegs are rear set, therefore the brake pedal would be positioned further back than the 350. This could be your problem

I don't know without looking  at pictures but you might be able to use a brake pedal from a 77 400f.

As said above the 75-76 400f had rear-set pegs so the brake pedal was farther back and higher up (and thus wouldn't contact the exhaust). The 77 400f had more standard foot controls like the 350f while retaining the same exhaust system as the earlier 400's. So I guess your options are to fab custom parts, use stock 75-76 400f foot controls, or see if possibly a 77 400f brake pedal will work.
