Factory tool kits,
« on: May 14, 2014, 08:37:20 PM »
Has anyone auctually ever had the point file and feeler gauges?
I bought some tools while they were available, but there's not much you can buy now. 4 bikes and I have 1.5 sets.  I guess I should have stocked up, the E bay tools have gone up a lot too.

NAPA stores will order Flexstone contact files for you made by RINCK-McILWAINE,INC.  I've been using them since the 60's.  They come in different thicknesses and grits...you want the thinnest and 120 grit or higher....called a #2  They're flexible plastic with grit on both faces.  Or you you try these contact burnishers from online sources:

or here:

feeler gauges are pretty ubiquitous.  Not sure what's special about the one's you're looking for.

They'd be special because they'd be the factory used tools.

I auctually have a couple of points files but I was wondering about the original Honda ones. I think I may have one, not sure.
In researching my K0 tool kit I realize I have some incorrect wrenches too, they should be 17-19mm,  10-14mm, and 8-12mm.  Newer bikes came with 17-14mm and 10-12mm I think.

I WAS a Honda Mechanic and I rarely saw and "factory" tools.
The dealership I worked in had to borrow some valve seat cutters from another dealership.

We usually bought our tools from the SNAP-On guy that came around once a week.

CB/CL350 & 450 tool kits have same wrenches............some have files and gauges............CB/CL77 kits also have the same wrench sizes but may be a slightly different style.  Yes, Ron, the later CB750 kits in the black bags are different.

About 10-years ago I made a deal with a local wrecking yard...........he would save all the Honda tools for me, and I would save all the Mustang tanks for him...........several were installed on 305-choppers ;D ;D.  He closed last year so we compared our trades..........we both thought we came out ahead :) :) :)

A few years ago there was a guy at the Davenport swap meet that had a few tool kits. $20-$30 each, I wish I'd bought them all now.

I've seen the tool kit feeler gauge once.  Makes you wonder where they all went!
