Cb350f and Cb400f motor swap
« on: July 21, 2014, 05:30:20 PM »
Hey, I'm putting a 400f motor in my 350f, the carbs in my cb350f are freshly rebuilt and the 400's are old and probably all gunked up. I want to put the carbs off my 350f on the 400 and I'm wondering what needs changing for that to work. I've been told I just need to change the slow jet? Any info would be great! Thanks!

The bodies are identical but the "setting" is not: that's the jets, needle, and needle position. You could transfer these 400 parts into the 350 carbs?

The parts in the 400 have been sitting in muck for 15 years, I think I'll just rebuild the 350 carbs with new components. So I just need to buy a cb400 carb re build kit and change all the 350 jets and needle for the 400 gear? I don't like to use eBay is there a good place to get all the parts from? Here is a pic of the 400 carbs

Unless you are buying genuine jets, don't waste your money.  Aftermarket jets and needles can cause eratic running issues.  Either spend a little time and clean the jets and needles in the 400 carbs, then fit them to the 350 bodies or just clean the 400 carbs and use them.  That varnish will come off easily with a little acetone and elbow grease.  ;D

Everywhere I'm reading says that both have a 75 main jet and the cb350f has a 35 slow whilst the cb400f has a 40, so it looks like I just need to swap the slow jets. Can anyone confirm this please?

I got a cheap soda blaster and cleaned my carbs. Worked a treat. I also bought all new genuine jets from jetsrus.com instead of refurbing the originals. I did up the emulsion tubes through the soda blaster though and they cleaned up really well:

Cool man, I have a fresh set of cb350f carbs so I won't need to clean the cb400f ones I just want to swap what I need.

Just pull the jets out, the number of it should be stamped on the side ;)
