quick question
« on: May 17, 2014, 09:00:42 AM »
Hey all I am new to the forum and new to my cb550. I'm looking to start building it back into a bike rather than the boxes of parts I received it in. My question before I can really get started on it is what all goes in the cavity under the seat? Is it just the battery tray n battery or are there more components that fit there. Like I said I got the bike in boxes so I can't really look and the book I have doesn't show it as far as I can see.

Thanks

There will be, as you say the battery tray and battery, but a lot of the electronics also, starter motor solenoid, winker relay, rectifier, voltage regulator, fuse box etc. You will also have the airfilter box (normally) plus I think a little tray for the tool kit.
That's all that springs to mind. Have you got all those bits ?

Kinda matters which year and model CB550 you have.  They are generally laid out the same.  But, there are variances in the parts you'll find.

Exploded parts views can be helpful.  As well as the Honda shop manual.

It is a 1975 and I have the clymer manual for the bike. I am wanting to try to relocate those things like you see so many people doing on the cafe builds. I'll have to look into it a little bit harder if its gonna be worth the trouble atm.
