So I'm new here, been on a couple other sites for awhile but really liked all the info i was finding here, hope to contribute some myself when I can. I'm from Independence, MO and contrary to popular belief it really isn't that bad lol. I work for a dealership selling/ordering car parts. And I am more of a hot rodder, I am currently building a kustom '40 chevy, chopped, sectioned, bagged, 4 link, 350 with a t5, and the list goes on...
Anyway about the bike, and why I called it a fake Norton. It really is a 1977 cb750f, which i had been looking for a deal on for a long time, then this lone little ad on craigslist came to my attention for a "Honda Norton Commando" after I stopped laughing I looked into it and it seemed to be a decent cb750 that needed a little help. I looked at and got a great deal on it because I traded a 1990 civic wago-van for it that i had paid about $100 for and driven for almost a 2 years. Then the fun began, after I test rode it and thought it worth the deal I left to take it home, the brakes when out going through down town,... the rear master cylinder blew out completely, and I figured out the front lines had all been assembled without crush washers...
yep its ugly, its rough but it runs and drives great, just has a little issue with stopping... since its already cut up, its not going to be a resto, cafe style with eventual 836 kit, mikuni carbs, norman hyde m bars, custom made tail to match the angular factory tank, is all on my list, I found another motor to build while I ride and enjoy it for now.
I really appreciate all the good information on this site! And I plan a build thread, even though you all have probably seen it all before) it will be to document my build, keep me motivated, and gain some valuable insight when needed.
