Topic: CB650 Front Brake Caliper interchangeability

Hi guys

I have a 79 CB650 with stripped bleeder threads on the caliper side. Reading the forums, it seems like a helicoil would not work for this kind of repair (feel free to correct me and let me know how to go about it).

I'm thinking the quickest and most pain-free solution is to source another caliper. 79 calipers are pricey at about $100 on eBay. Cheaper options for other CB650 years.

Can anyone tell me which years are interchangeable?

Unfortunately, as far as I know the 79-81 CB650 front caliper is different from all other models. The 1982 CB650s switched to dual front brakes but the calipers are not the same as the earlier model CB650s. So, your could wither find another 79-81 CB650 caliper or pick up a later model front end and switch to dual brakes.

CX500 calipers will also work, I have them on my 650Z.  They look better too IMO.
