Front brake Calliper Cb750 k1
« on: May 21, 2014, 03:49:55 PM »
I have started to put my refurbished front brake calliper back together and noticed that there was no part no 16 as in the parts fiche. Is this a concern. Also when I got the old pads out there was no screw in the top of pad A or part no 5. The new pads I got have a metal screw in the pad. Is it to line up with the groove in the calliper?

They call it a "seat". If I recall it is a plastic piece. I thought is was to seat the pad and help reduce brake chatter.

yeah, that's all 16 is.  A ring of plastic to reduce the noise level.  I lost mine, and it just makes a little more noise.

not really important. lol

That is a domed steel "cap", that fits into the end of the piston. The domed end contacts the back side of the pad. I've got pics somewhere of my K1 calipers....

Yes, the screw fits into the groove in the caliper.

+1...Honda calls it the Pad seat.  You need it.

Thanks everyone,

I've ordered new bleeder screw and cap as well as the pad seat. Can anyone confirm if you just screw the screw into the pad until it just fits in the groove. I don't really see the point of the screw but I am sure as with 99.9% of Honda stuff that there's a reason for it.

Yes, you just screw it in, I used screw from old pad in a new pad at least once when the new one came without it.

The screw itself has a big head - the size of the groove  - it is not just regular Home Depot piece.

If you don't have the screw, the pad will spin and wear the inside of the caliper.
