CB750K Neutral light on in every gear except Neutral
« on: May 24, 2014, 01:34:10 PM »
Trying to figure out this wiring situation. I took my bike to a mechanic here in portland and he had a problem with the wiring harness I got since it doesnt have the colors like stock. It's been one PITA getting this thing wired. Anyhow the neutral light is on in every other gear but when I put it in Neutral i tturns off. Is it a matter of switching some wires? Also the oil light wire doesnt turn on when hooked into the right wires.

Mechanics really seem to hate electrical. The guy fixed some stuff but then broke some stuff. Blinkers dont work now either so I'm trying to figure out what happened.  :o

Thanks!

That diagram is missing a red/green connection with the connector to the neutral switch.   The switch seems to be working but I think your problem is in the rats nest in the headlight bucket.  Power is fed to the lamp with the black +12 the neutral switch supplies the ground.

Vinhead, wiring diagrams mean nothing if the wires aren't the same colors as the oem anyhow.

Also it seems to be working just the opposite as if every gear is in neutral but when it's in neutral is turns off. I'll check to see if there's a red/green wire that I can find in there.

If you have non stock wire colors you may have to get a test light and start your own chart. Find a wire that's hot and start switching switches until something happens. The diagram will still tell you the flow and what is on each end of every wire. What part of the world are you located in? (sorry, I see you mentioned Portland) I've driven an hour to fix a members wires maybe someone else will too.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Yeah looks like it. I think my next project I'll just use the m-unit and make my own harness.
