crank thrust concerns from VFR stator swap on 550
« on: May 26, 2014, 02:13:41 PM »
so I am setting up a VFR stator swap on my 550.  A tapered spacer has been made but me and my machinist have concerns of the thrust off the magnets pushing on the crank (since there is no real thrust surface on the 550 to take this load)

I don't want to run the motor on the street and having it eating cases every couple years when the play gets too bad.

We are going to try and get it narrowed down to as close to zero thrust as we can but it is still a concern.

Just looking for any experience or opinions on it.

And can we keep the "why upgrade the charging system" questions out of it.
