Topic: Sources for swingarm collar?

Yay my first post.  Longtime lurker.

It's my understanding that the swingarm collars have been phased out slowly, and now it looks like even the oem 69-76 ones are no longer?

Does anyone know where to get one?  (Other than the ONE on ebay for $140)  I am in the middle of a swingarm rebuild and my collar looks like hell.

Other than chucking it up in the lathe and hitting it w some emery cloth, any other refurb tips?  I was thinking of turning it down some (I am turning my own bushings so I could accommodate) but I have a feeling it would win out over the lathe bit (hardened, no?), but maybe someone has had some experience ...

Oh yeah it's a K2.

You may want to try and get a hold of Mark/Hondaman. He provides a rebuild service and may have some valuable advice for you.

How much skill do you have? You mentioned a lathe already, could make your own?

I've been considering that ... I guess I'm not sure if these are hardened or just polished at the ends. 

Really a bummer that these aren't available anymore.

Still available, at least from David Silver Spares in the UK, part number 52141-300-000. They are expensive.
It's tough to get the bushings right, the swingarm will probably be out of round or bellowed. That's why folks send them to Hondaman. Do a Google search of the forum.

From the way they wear I doubt it is hardened. Need some more knowledgeable to chime in like 754 or hondaman. If you can fit up and machine parts you can do it, then size your bushings properly to the collar and arm

I put needle bearings in my K6 last month. I may still have the collar laying around. I'll check tonight.

+1 on having Hondaman rebuild it. There are very good reasons why he doesn't  just sell bushings/collars because swingarm conditions vary widely.

Thx guys, I understand the sentiment but I don't pay anyone to do anything until I have failed miserably.   Actually usually a few times.   

I tried to turn the collar down but it is hardened, I mean, you can see the heat marks.  There was a rise where the grease distribution groove was in the old bushing that I was sort of able to turn down to a certain degree.   One side I dremeled that down thinking that hey, it wasn't making contact there anyway.

Honed the swingarm and turned two of these

Collar slid through perfect outside the swingarm (even milled w toasted bits hahaha)

Froze em, heated swingarm pressed em in w a bit of threaded rod and bam - either I locked in the frozen ID or my swingarm is still oval as f**k.

A little (ok a long) while later w the honing tool again and I got my knackered up collar to go through.  W no play. 

I'll call it a win.  If it lasts the rest of the season (it's my daily) it will have been worth the work.  I am going to make my own swingarm eventually so I'm not terribly stressed about it.  It was slapping around back there a good 3/8" before so it's gotta be better.  Someone is gonna sell me a collar that's hopefully better. 

Also converted my axle to 1/4-28 standard grease fittings.
