CR 750 Oil Tank

Hi Guys. I need comment re: the placement of the oil tank on my Cr 750 build. Is the filler cap too high in the frame? I need some critique in respect of the placement of this tank. Thanks chaps.

It looks close Dion. By the time you get the seat covered, the top of the filler should be just below seat height.
Don't forget to allow for a thin rubber strip between the lower brackets and tank.

I also glued a thin sheet of rubber mat to the back of the tank to protect it from any sharp stones that might get thrown up off the tyre.

While on this subject, could I ask how much oil goes into said tank and how one measures the capacity of the tank? It doesn't have a dipstick....

hi sam seems to me a little high must take into account that the cover should not be heated and pleasant feel heat between her legs I'm doing mine in Argentina and not publish Might as inform and show you photos as I a greeting

Hi giunchi, welcome to the forum, although your English is a little off the mark, I get what you're saying.

Dion, let's just hope that someone comes up with the amount of oil as I can't remember how much we ran in ours.
We made our own dip stick in the form of a T bar. The top of the T was just wide enough to sit across the neck of the filler.
We put the desired amount of oil in then dipped it and marked the stick.
Once you are satisfied that you have the right amount of oil in there, run the motor and mark the dipstick with a HOT mark which will obviously be lower on the stick.
If at anytime you dip the oil when cold and find it below the cold mark, DON'T top it up. Run the motor first and see if after a few minutes running it comes up to the hot mark.
My friend made this mistake once, the oil showed low so he topped it up quite a bit, when he started the bike, the oil came right up to the filler neck and he had to empty some out.
What had happened was the none return valve had stuck and the oil had drained back into the sump, don't make the same mistake Dion.
