Get a little window unit AC small TV lock the door from the inside. Even a little shed can be a good get away. When ever I want something for the shop like a oven I buy my wife a new one and tell her she should have better things now let me take that junk to the shed. Works good for a beer fridge too. You have to learn how to work them. ;D

It's my first re-build ever and that's challenging enough, but doing it out of a toolshed, makes it that much sweeter when it's done - to me at least.

Lets get this back on track here, your wife kicked you out of the garage... You need to reverse that quick fast or you will forever be in the tool shed and the garage will be nothing more than storage for Xmas decorations and crap like that, grab hold of your balls man and stand your ground.

I think once we get a place to put her business equipment and supplies, I will get that side of the garage back.  Don't worry guys, I will find my way back into the garage.  ON an off subject, does anyone have rocker arms for a 1977 CB550? thanks

I love reading these threads. Im not married yet and never have been. just a long term girl friend. But its good to be ahead of the curve with these types of things. Her proposed rule for now is no bike stuff in the house, just in the garage.

Im thinking maybe make an issue out of it. you are entitled to space in your own house. but then again what do i know.

I have rebuilt a couple bikes in my garage. My wife is a bit OCD in the cleaning department and she does all the laundry, and the washer and dryer are in the garage next to my bikes. I was able to rebuild my bikes without any complaints by just dedicating a bit of time to cleaning up after every wrench session. Use oil absorbing pads you can get at any parts store and kitty litter to soak up spilled oil. Put away your tools and neatly organize your parts. Not only does it make inspection/reassembly easier it just makes for a better working environment. Use a bit of Simple Green (or similar) to spray your garage floor and bench. These are just a few recommendations to help you out bro! Keep that #$%* clean!!!

My wife parks her new Q5 on the street. The garage is blocked with my motorcycles, my truck is in the driveway. Our living-room floor is covered with NOS Honda parts. I can spend however much money I want on my bikes. For my 50th birthday, she got me a new BMW RR. When she was with me at the dealership the other day, she commented on the carbon parts of the HP4, and suggested that I should get these for my bike too--which I did. The money is mostly coming from her since she makes much more than I do. She goes on long rides with me, twelve hours and more, carrying a heavy backpack, without complaining much.
I guess, I made some pretty good choices in my life.  :)

Typical for women is that they say one thing but think mean/want/need something else.
Her message here might be you pay too much attention to the bikes and too little for her that makes her angry/irritated/disappointed. Mentally and/or money

That is exactly what my wife is saying about me--and I am afraid it's true. Seriously. :-[
Anyhow, I am married for over 22 years now. I was married before that for 12 years. However, I have been with my CB 750 for 37 years. Some things are meant to be for ever...Marriage isn't one of them. The CB 750, on the other hand... ;)

Yes, that's true!!
I have had countless of girlfriends, short timers as long timers on same address since I found my CB750 January 1979... :-) ::)
My bike is really worth the money spent,  taking her back into action and look.

I would not challenge that.
Women like their home nice with no bike or car stuff.
You will like it too . Just make sure there are no chics and ducks all over EVERYTHING!
It is better to keep it all separate.
Make the garage your space.
Except for the washer and dryer.

That is only fair.

Be wary, and prepared.  She essentially told you she wanted you and your activities out of the house...
Soon the only thing she'll want from you is money.

Two Tired....Would you want her stuff piled in your space?

My garage is was my space, but its now been overrun by kids cr@p!  ::)
I was relegated to reusing this old kitchen center island as my 'shop'
Painted, resurfaced, and locking casters added....I ended up building the motor and the rest of the bike right on top of it.
All my parts fit neatly inside, and i could roll it out onto the driveway for working in good lighting.

It is OUR space.  And, we share.  She has stuff in the garage too (our washer, dryer, freezer, and shelves), as well as space inside the house, as do I.  I have a workshop room, and a computer/music room.  Mostly my stuff, some shared.  We both cook, share the kitchen.  We both sleep, share the bedroom.  She is welcome in all these spaces and my life.

I don't rule her, she doesn't rule me.  We make joint decisions about things.

Lucky,

My wife told me once that I was getting too many MC's and parts and I should build a garage for them. Good point honey!
I had a nice 14x22 garage built in less than 6 weeks!
