Legitimate VIN number?
« on: May 26, 2014, 01:12:40 PM »
Can someone tell me if this is a VIN number for a 1974 CB750K?

CB750-2315223

It doesn't seem right to me but just checking.

Looks like l legitimate K4 number. K4's started with 230...., K5 started with 250....
Your engine number should also be a 23....., K5 engine numbers started with 2372115

Actually, I think this might be a K3.

Working off the manual, K4 frames start at 2341915.

Thanks guys, there is a guy selling a non-titled but complete 74 in planet blue. Even a complete exhaust. I was tossing it around to even part it out might bring a bit of a profit. Just checking to see if the vin he gave me was even close to being real.

If it's the one listed in the Seattle CL it looks like the ad has been flagged

I've met the guy selling it a few months back. He buys bikes to ship to Japan. Some of them don't seem to pass the test and he sells them off himself. I am always a bit turned off about buying non-titled bikes but this one seems pretty complete and in nice shape for the money. If it was spit shined, fully tuned, street ready with title, $4000+ wouldn't be out of reason around here. Or parting out. The complete H341 or (whatever it is) exhaust could bring a pretty penny.
