which fork tube to go with?
« on: May 29, 2014, 10:28:30 AM »
hello all

I am needing to purchase stock length CB750K0 fork tubes for my resto. I have narrowed it down to 3 options and was wondering if one was better than the other. I could go stock Honda tubes but they are double the price of the repro units. I was also considering cycle X or yamiya750? the cycle X are the least money but not sure of the quality? any thoughts?

thx

further to this my local shop took my forks apart and they think I need a different "damping rod and topping spring"? are those normally attached to the fork tubes when you purchase them? I will try to post picks shortly of what I have to work with.

thx

You should also consider Forks by Frank. Very high quality and widely used.

Damping rods and springs are not part of the fork tubes and are purchased separately.

I can vouch for the Frank's tubes, the quality is top notch. It's my undertanding they're closed for business though. You would try and have to find elsewhere than direct.

hey 754

ya I found some new ones but they are close to 400 bucks! if the are complete with the damping rods and top out spring then perhaps I should pay the extra money??? are you saying that the stock Honda tubes HAVE the rod and spring integral to them????

thx

I have NOS lower leg will try to take a pic, showing damper inside
I did buy new tubes for K3, used 77/78,  as they were hardchrome, so I felt it was worth it.
Be harder to pay that much for ones that can rust.
