1982 CB750 Super Sport - The Red Nacissist build
« on: June 19, 2014, 07:31:12 PM »
Hey all.
I am starting my very first bike build. No clue what i am doing. Way over my head. But having fun!
Here is my progress so far. If anyone has advice along the way i would greatly appreciate it especially in regards to installing my Mikuni BT36? carbs  .

Questions I am currently pondering:

I'm assuming my battery ground must remain in the original location (the block) and not hidden up high near the upper frame. I'll have to buy a nice thick guage wire and run it a longer distance. Hopefully without electrical issues. In my head it makes sense to make the + wire from the starter solenoid to battery as short as possible. Not sure why i think that.

My Mikuni carbs are a Mind F$*$&K. I know nothing about carbs. i just want them installable so i can send it to a shop and let them bother with tuning this thing.  I think they are BT36's. Help would be appreciated if you know correct pod filter sizes for these stupid oval shapes and if the spacing between the manifold section is a perfect match. I searched the forums but its a needle in a hay stack. I think i need a DynoJet kit of some sort.

This year i want to finish the electrical, back end, get the exhaust done up and seat fabricated and installed.
Next summer i will work on cleaning up the front end!
