« on: June 01, 2014, 01:45:11 PM »
was trolling thru our local trademe and found a xr250 frame and parts for sale. put in a bid and won at $85.
result. Honda 250 motosport rolling chassis with new tyres. frame has been hacked
Honda Xl250S motor missing the piston and a couple of clutch plates
           Honda Xl250S complete exhaust system
           Honda Xl250 bash plate.
plus lots of other little goodies.
me a happy chappy, I just happen to have a spare XL250S frame I was wondering what to do with.   ;D ;D ;D

well things slowly evolve. Have now got a rolling chasis, Xl250S frame, motorsport front triples, forks and wheel, rear motorsport swing arm and rear wheel. suzuki shockies.
The motor was a dead loss, went to do a dry assemble to find out what is missing and no front balancer shaft. #$%*.
enter a friend who just happened to have found a bottom end in a paddock. yay it's what I needed, balancer shaft, chains, clutch and 2nd over piston and barrel.

good news, barrel and piston in spec so new rings, gasket set and other little bits and pieces are on their way.
Beautiful day here in NZed, so it's out with the frame to do some mods to fit the gas tank and seat I want to use. cut bits off an old Katana frame that is a bit bent to make some brackets out of, get everything prepped to weld it up. #$%*e, I've left the earth lead for the mig at work and my old arc welder is a bit heavy duty for this welding. fark. :-[

frame finished apart from a coat of paint. bottom end of motor buttoned up. clutch cobled together fom 2 baskets, plate stack height and manual don't agree so sod the manual and put together what looks right. hope that doesn't bite me on the arse further along. to nice a day to muck around so it's out with the 650 for a bit of spirited riding. ;D
