Replaced for seal still leaks
« on: June 01, 2014, 04:19:14 PM »
Replaced me left fork seal and it still continues to seep just as bad. Replaced the right while I was at it and it's bone dry like before.

Has anyone has issues with either lower legs or tubes opposed to the usual culprit which is the seal?

Where is the leaking after you replaced new seals?

When I pop the left dust cap it's full of fluid above the seal.

Weird part is that its the same side that leaked before. So curious if there's a possibility of a fork or tube issue instead of seal.

I would inspect the fork tube along the travel length

Is the seal in the correct way and straight?

Are the tubes smooth with no pits or scratches?

What was your installation tool?

Have you over filled with oil?

Are you using fork air pressure?

Have you examined the seal "lips" for damage?

One more:
Have you checked the fork lower for gouges where the seal fits?

The seals are new and installed correctly as other side doesn't leak. I used a piece of PVC pipe to install.

No for air pressure and fluid was measured out before filling.

I will check the tubes and fork legs for pits and gouges. Have a feeling it will be either of these.

Thanks

If I do need a replacement fork or tube, are they all the same from k0-k8?
