  • I love to restore & travel. Keep'em Going Strong !
I'm real attatched to my old Norelco cordless shaver from the 90's and I've decided to have the batteries replaced in it by a qualified Full service battery store.
I had them replaced a couple years ago in another state but the repair kid at the local Batteries Plus store installed 2) 1000 m/a niCad batteries...and the problem w/ that is it originally came w/ 2) 600's.The unit has a special 20 min. 'fast charger' feature which I like a lot(especially when traveling  :) )and it doesn't charge the 1000 m/a replacement batteries sufficiently enough to bring them up to a full charge.
I now only want a good battery store to do the correct replacement of the 2) 600 m/a orig. NiCad's and be good to go for a few more good years: "The Old ones are Better than the new ones" for me as far as these shavers go  ;) . I called the ONLY Batteries Plus store group(I think there's 4 of them around Pittsburgh)and the closest one to me(Monroeville)has a man working there(Brian) who when I've called the 2 times has a 'what do YOU want' type of attitude about him...kind of like "we're the ONLY ones around here so, Take it OR Leave it,You're stuck w/ what we tell you"....  >:(  Now every time in the past I heard that Crap I'd say to myself "well,it's time to find another store not far from here".
That's what I've been trying to do; I've Googled Washington,PA. & even gone as far as looking at Morgantown,WV. and they ALL have just the Pittsburgh stores as the ONLY local locations !  I'M NOT GOING THERE...that's all.
I'll keep trying to find a Full Service battery store that'll replace these 2) 600 m/a NiCad's the correct way and then send it out to them after I've spoken w/ them first by phone and confirmed it w/ a Caring Person. They have a special battery spot welder that does the attatching of 2) new metal contact strips so they give a 100% connection for the life of those batteries. I just need to find a good old store that has a manager w/ Solid Integrity. I don't mind sending it out  :)
Have any of you members found any good battery store that can help me ?

What size are the batteries in it?  It isn't recommended on batteries and definitely not on those flat pack batteries but some people solder them.  I was working on a DIY CD welder back a year or so ago and couldn't perfect it.  It would discharge but blew right through the metal strips I was using.  I got sick of getting crap batteries for my roomba.  Still using crap batteries though...   Did you look for "Capacitive Discharge Welding" around there?

I'll have to get back to that welder again some time.  Between bikes, work, and now college I don't have much time though.

I just want to give the shaver to a Battery place that's all set up to do the job, they have the right stuff to do it.
                                              Thanks though  :)

Do you have an Interstate Batteries near you?
They do some repair and build work.

Instead of a battery place, you might try a shaver shop.
Go metric, every inch of the way!

Thanks for those suggestions you dudes,I'll keep an eye open for those shops. The service places around here are 'few & far between'  ::)
I'd rather find a good shop somewhere else and call'em to set it up and then send it out to them.
