New shocks
« on: May 23, 2005, 06:59:10 AM »
Hey all:

My shocks seem to be pretty tired -- wondering how to handle that.

I know progressive makes shocks -- anyone tried 'em?  What do you think?

Any others?  $$$

I just installed a set from partsnmore.com.  The bike's an occasional rider, not a racer or anything exotic.  Great price, decent fit.  Big improvement in the ride.

I was thinking about getting the partsnmore shocks myself. I dont race and the idea of dual springs is good as it is hard to make a progressive spring.
I suppose others will say they are crap cause they are not ikons or konis but if they work, then they work.

Me first: "They're crap cause they're not Ikon or Koni!" Ha ha, seriously, they're probably better than the OEM's, (which are just plain awful) but it's a bit like the "which helmet?" post, remember, shockers are a safety item, just like brakes ansd tires, would you skimp on them too? For the same money you could buy a used pair of Koni's and rebuild them, which is easy and cheap, and unlike the cheapies, you can still buy replacement parts for 30 year old Koni's. cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Geez, I haven't heard that name in awhile! Well, back in the day, Betor's (Spanish) were a good quality, reasonably priiced shock, in about the same class as Hagon, Boge, etc. I had to "google" Betor to see if they're still manufactured, but they are still there, and apparently still producing good quality shocks at a reasonable price. Maybe we should delegate Raul to go to the manufacturer with a bulk order, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

That's an excellent price mate, one site in Britain had them for $200.00. What's the ebay dude's ebay ID? I'll check 'em out! Cheers, Terry. ;D
