a question 1974 CB550 with 1977 pipes?
« on: May 23, 2005, 05:59:21 AM »
Hello. I have a 1974 CB550 with botha 4into1 totally rusted pipe and a 1977 exhaust 4 into 4 system. For some reason I sold all the exhaust collars and retainers I had from my other 1974 cb550's. My question, do you think I should keep the 4into1 system on or replace it with the 4 into 4, if I can find the collars & retainers? The 1977 system does fit, but.....it's the wrong year. michel ???

Are you sure that the '77 4-4 really fits?  I thought the footrests were different on the '77 to allow the kickstand to run between pipes 1 and 4.

Well, I hooked it up and the sidestand works fine. Just had to place a larger rubber bumper on the shaft . I have a feeling maybe the center stand would not though. BUT seeing as I have no center stand it is not a problem.  ;D
