OEM Tool Kits
« on: June 21, 2014, 10:46:32 AM »
I would like to share for those who don't know that OEM tool can still be bought. When going to your favorite web site for CB parts, look for the schematic where the tool kits is. Most will show all the parts in the kit but when you look to order one it will say "Part Obsolete" or "Not Available". Very frustrating. For my bike (1977 CB750F) whole kit lists for $16.51 (Partzillia.com) but is "Not Available". But if you buy each part individually (from same site and same page) all are available except the spark plug socket. Now buying each part individually will cost you almost double what the whole kit would cost if it was available. Some might say "Double", well that's only (in my case) $34.54 for an OEM tool kit. I checked ebay and you can find kits but are they all there? Are parts missing? It's a guess!! Oh! and some complete kits (?) start for around $50 plus shipping and go higher. True they might be "Original" but are they? As for the spark plug socket, I went to my local motorcycle shop and bought one that looks just like the OEM for $12. Set complete and bike is happy.

Don't forget that you can buy a newer Honda tool kit that's complete with the same parts. Steve-o knows more about it that I do, but that's what I bought and I have every tool needed.

The battery straps for the 77-78s DO NOT WORK! I have yet to find a picture of someone getting them to work on our bikes. They slip out of the tabs and do not hold...
