Actually, no I didn't. I do think it would be a good idea, however.
Chances are you sealed the pickup tubes with the sealant.
My post was two fold.
First was asking if you removed the petcock prior to sealing, which you did. Good.
Next was asking if you disassembled/cleaned the petcock.
If you have good flow through it and it's not leaking, it should be fine.
As you don't have a "prime" position. you should be able to test the flow by disconnecting the fuel hose(s), putting vacuum on (or sucking on) the vacuum line to the petcock, and watching for a flow of gas.
