What's the oldest motorcycle that you have ridden ?
« on: June 09, 2014, 10:50:23 AM »
Got a chance to ride a 1905 Thor over the weekend.  One of 2 known to exist.  Ran like a champ.

That smashed my previous record of a 1957 Panhead earlier in the day that the owner generously let me ride all afternoon.

Not sure I'll ever top that.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

I rode a few 60's bikes back in the day but can't really think of any years so I'm gonna say my old Honda 305 Scrambler which I believe was a 66.

minister here has a first year Indian that has to be worth a high 6 figure number.  A strange ride but how neat he let me ride a bike that old. Bike is unrestored but with great patina.

I can probably shed more light on the year of the Indian, my buddy has a lot of the early ones, and knows them well. He has a complete 04 and part of a 03 And I think some 02 Stuff...and a few other pre 10 years
If its got a spring fork its at least an 06 or maybe 05.
You said it's a runner, a lot of them are not. Is it possible to email me a pic of it. And which color is it ?

Freakin cool for sure. We were at Barber a few years ago and they had one lap "race" for motorcycles at least 100 years old. It was crazy how many bikes took part...very cool. At VRRA race events one lad from Maryland always brings his 30's something Rudge and races it. At our Mosport event there are several Rudges, part of a club I assume, out there mixing it up. Tremendous. Not that everybody should be racing these things, but I think it's great these old bikes are being ridden and not locked up in a glass house.

1938 BMW motorcycle, from a friend's private collection. It completely blew my mind how good this bike rides for 1930's standards. Also my W1 Kawasaki 1967.

Well, yes  -  but there is a seat between me and the fuel tank  ;)

'Twas a very odd thing to ride  -  the hub-centre steering doesn't have very much lock, and I suppose I might, in time, have got used to the hand change, but the huge gap between first & second gears meant that by the time I'd found second, it wanted first again  ::)

I have pictures of 2 or 3 Super Hawks and 1 Scrambler with 400F motors. No shots that show much, that would give much Input on how they mounted the motor In the front or top. Now. I am kinda thinking now. I have a 400F that isn't complete and I also have some Superhawk bits as well.
