No Power To Starter !!

Hi, All its Sanddigger, I am rebuilding my 1977 CB750a ,all most don, Question ?
I have no power to the stater , But Have power to the buttion but the starter
will not turn all the fuse are all OK  >:( ::).

What about power at the starter solenoid?

Hi, I For got to say I Have no power  in the solenoid , I  have other one still no power to the starter. :'(

Do any of the other electrics work? and do you have a good battery & well grounded ?

I have a New battery Lights  work Horn Work Turns Work, but the starter will
not turn ,if you Junp the solenoid it turn over but not by the butten I have power to the butten but will not turn over the engine.

The solenoid is what lets the power flow to the starter for it to turn over the motor. It is activated by the start button. It should have a green/red stripe wire that connects to the start button and a yellow/redstripe wire that connects to ground. The solenoid might be dead?

There is a safety no-start switch somewhere...possibly the rear hand brake or sidestand ? I'd check the wires to that to be sure you're getting continuity to complete the(black/white wire?)ignition circuit.

I'm resurrecting this thread because I am having the same issue and couldn't find the answer.  I partially rewired my 77 cb750a and can't get the starter to work other than jumping it directly at the solenoid.  The solenoid should be fine, as it worked before I modified the bike.  I hear tell of a fabled stock wiring setup on the matics that cuts power to the starter.  I believe this is most likely my issue but I don't know which wires are involved in this.  Can someone please shed some light on the matter?  Cheers!

Do you have a oem Factory Honda service manual w/ a good wiring diagram? take a look at the safety switches and their wiring;also the rear brake pedal/parking brake safety switch may be no good.

So I studied some of the wiring diagrams that I could find and figured it out.  To bypass that whole "changing relay" and "solenoid valve" system on these bikes you just run the green/red wire from the starter solenoid to your starter switch (I'm using a turn key instead of a push button), and run the red/yellow wire from the starter solenoid to ground.  Now my electric starter actually works.  No more emergency kick start.   8)

*Note: I am using a tach in place of the stock gauge with the lights for neutral/low/drive, etc.  This probably won't work for anyone wanting to keep that gauge.  Tach is more useful anyway.   :P
