Topic: Horn suggestions

I want to replace my bike horn with something to wake the bejesus out of some of these meatheads that threaten my life daily. Can the std horn be replaced with a louder horn. Have been looking at some twin 115db Fiamm car horns with a relay. Will these work or does it strain the electrics. Any other suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

Use a horn relay for best results.  Fair simple hook-up.  Refer to the following site.  Not very hard at all.  Good luck.

I've got the twin Fiamm "Freeway Blaster" horns on my 750.  You can see them in the picture below, mounted where the stock horn used to be.  You do have to use a relay, but it's easy to do and really scares the piss out of the driver of that car coming over into your lane.

I had twin FIAMMs with relay on my 500 in the '70s (see avatar)

They were OK but the relay was not designed to be out in the breeze (read salt-laden, wet blast for UK winter) and did not last very long.  Also the clear plastic tubing that connected the compressor to the horns discoloured and looked sh*t very quickly. The compressor was mounted on the original horn mounts.

They were really REALLY loud.

I'm going to put some FIAMM disc horns on my bike -- 130db.

Look at JC Whitney under motorcycles > horns and you'll see them -- I've heard they are frightening.

I replaced my horn with open pipes, and, the little four makes  more noise than a twin.. It is fun around town ( on the highway it is ridiculous). Seriously,   I have noticed that the "cage drivers" as they have been refered to in other posts, have taken notice to my proximity(sometimes begrudgingly) but none the less... i think there may be something to the "loud pipes save lives" mantra...
 Air horns are probably  more practicle....
