Topic: Different P/N side stands?

So my bike (72 750) got backed into Friday night and crumbled my side stand. I'm trying to find one asap because only having a center stand is a pain in my ass (and back). I'm just wondering if the stands even though different P/N are interchangeable. P/N's below...

1971 - 50530294000
1972 - 50530294000
1973 - 50530341670
1974 - 50530341670
1975 - 50540341670
1976 - 50540341670

My bike is a 72 and was wondering if the 73-76 could bolt right on. It would open up my search a lot. However, the last thing I want to do is buy one of those on a whim and it not fit (I already did that with my center stand).

Hey Tim, I don't know about the interchangeability of the later stands, but I think I may have a stand from a K1 somewhere. Was there any damage to the mount on the frame?

No worries a Scottly, I feel like it's a weird question anyways. Nope, there's no apparent damage to the mount on the frame (luckily).  Let me know if you find that one from the K1 and how much you want for it.

I know they changed in 75 (they have that rubber piece at the bottom) but not sure if that means they won't work.

At least from consnl.com the part number changed after 72 and is consistent to 1976 (I could be wrong obviously!) I'm guessing they probably would still work but I was just hoping for some verification before I bought one (I've already ordered the wrong center stand thinking it would fit in the last).

Here are a couple of pics of the stand; I believe it is from a K1, as it came in a box of parts when I bought my  Seeley, which had used a K1 as a donor. If it looks to be the correct one, how about $20 including Priority Mail shipping?

Also remember the art of getting it on the center stand is WAY more about the step down/ pull back than the lift up. Technique can make it easy or hard.  A lowered or sagging bike will be harder though.

Absolutely. Granted I'm 26 and relatively good shape, I'd still prefer to have a sidestand most of the time.

Main dif on the stands was the rubber tripper on K2 and later. OTher than that just modest touches. K1 definitely works on K2, personal experience. I didn't like the rubber bit.

If the spring weren't already off, you would move it to its most extended position then insert dimes into each coil. Then move it to another position and the spring falls off. Reverse for instal.  I actually use little cut piece of flashing. I hear dimes work.

With spring off the bike you can lever it/muscle it on with the sidestand but you'll scratch a lot of paint.

Put spring in vice and wag it back and forth, opening a coil, insert dime, wag to other side, insert dime, until it is long enough to get on bike.
