The obsession has lead me to a another purchase, a stock '78 CB550k. The bike is complete otherwise, just needs the engine put back together and regular maintenance, carbs cleaned etc.
This was a running engine but leaking oil to soak the previous owner's pants while riding, and the cam chain tensioner was stuck, so it had been taken apart a few years ago. Everything seems to be put in baggies and labeled well.
I've done just about everything else with my '77 550F but not the engine, so this is virgin territory for me.
I would like how best to proceed on a budget- no modifications, I want it to run and run well. I don't want to cheap out and have to tear her down again, but I want to be reasonable because as you know, the sky is always the limit. I would also like to get moving as soon as possible, have it done as soon as possible and do everything myself.
Thanks in advance.
