I haven't heard of a 1982' CB900R myself here in the States. The sportiest CB900 was an 'F' from my recollection.

Yep, no such thing as a 1982 cb900R, replace the "R" with an "F" as has been suggested and go from there. I owned one for about 4 years {CB900F2}..

Retro R,
How was you experience as an owner of that CB900F2 ? Did the cam chains give you any problems ?

Mine only had 6 or 700 miles on it when i bought it so it was basically brand new, i sold it with a few thousand miles on it and it was still pretty quiet, it was well serviced and looked after... If i was to buy an old one i would probably change out the chains. Here is a boldor build from Australia, just over halfway down the page there is a simple explanation of why the chains wear and the fix for it, its a simple curved cam chain guide, this is on the problematic exhaust side. ... If you ride the bike without thrashing it you should be ok with the stock set up... They weren't the best handling bike around but i really liked it, cool looking bikes... ;)
