Topic: Tires for 400F with wider rims?

I laced up new rims the same width as a 550 for my 400F, 1.85x18 and 2.15x18.  These are also the same size as my RD400F which I have BS BT45s. I can find the front 90/90/18 but can't find a 100/80/18 rear (or 100/90/18).  Looking for reccomendations for tires, I like the BT45s but all I can find in a 100/90 rear is Avon AM26.  Does anyone know where I can get a BT45 in 100/90/18 rear? What do you think would work best on my CB400F, and what size?   Is a 110 rear too big for this bike, or are the Avons a better choice? Thanks in advance.

I have a 550F and it has a 110/90-18" on the back, that is the proper size. Coincidentily, I am going to change the rim so I can run a 120/90-18 on it.

I have Avon's on my Z1, great tire.....go for it. BT45 is excellent too.


BTW - does your RD have a 18" front wheel? I have a '73 RD350 and am having a hard time finding a vintage-looking tire in the 3.00-18" size.

Yep, my RD has 18" wheels all around.  I think the earlier models were narrower though.  The Daytona wheels are the same size as I laced up for the CB400, 1.85x18 and 2.15x18.  I got the BT45 recommendation and sizes from the RD forum, but I can't find the 100/90/18 rear anymore?  I know a 110 will fit, but worried about what it will do to the little 400s sweet handling.

I can only find it for a front tire and would not put it on the rear...
