CB550 After MArket Exhaust questions
« on: June 21, 2014, 08:08:05 AM »
I am looking to upgrade my exhaust set up - i am currently looking at two optiong, but am open to suggestions as well.

the first is a pair of 4-into-2 headers with no baffle or mufflers

the second is a 4-into-1 mac exhaust

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.  thanks

Jake

No baffle and mufflers is a complete waste of time mate, you'll end up still looking for an exhause system. I wouldn't personally by a Mac, theye are average at best, for the 550 i would be looking at the motogpwerks stainless 4 into 1, a good performance pipe, plenty loud enough and it'll never rust... ;)

I agree to the above, but if you can not obtain a MotoGP system due to their limited availability, and do choose a Mac or other "production brand", then do yourself a favor and have it ceramic coated inside and out to aide in protecting it from corrosion and benefitting the system in scavenging.

I recently stumbled across this link: http://www.c5ignitions.com/exhaust-kits.html
And am planning to use this system for my BMW build to fab a custom 2:1 for my old airhead. It will be slightly easier than a 4:1, but if you prefer a 2:1 and a stockish look, you may have great success building your own.

But the MotoGP is the sweetest system on the market for the CB I've seen and beautifully made.

I have a MAC on my 550, and although it looks great and I feel like guys slightly under-estimate these things for how cheap they are...it sounds like #$%*!
