RIP Tony Gwynn

I know it is a little late but this I feel compelled to post this article from Deadspin.
As a lifelong Cards fan I thank the Padres for giving us Ozzie Smith and knew Gwynn was a class act and an awesome hitter.
When you talk about role models this guy was it.

RIP.

Sweet-swinging Tony.  Grew up a Ranger fan, but still had his poster on my wall.  RIP.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Traded a Clemens rookie card for this Gwynn rookie card when I was about 13. He always seemed to be the real deal, unlike Clemens.

The highlight of my sports fan career is catching a ground rule double that Tony Gwynn hit into the bleachers off the astro turf of old Busch Stadium.

Donruss rookie card is a good one to have!

Maddux once explained that you could trick any hitter into not being able to read the speed of a pitch—"Except for that #$%*ing Tony Gwynn."
