81 rear disc caliper on 78 750F?
« on: September 20, 2006, 10:57:15 AM »
On a whim I bid on a 81 cb750F rear disc caliper and somehow I won it. I have a 78 cb750F but wouldn't mind using the dual pot caliper if it's not too much work. This is an ongoing project so I have lots of time to get parts. My current setup is with the stock rear disc (in boxes :'() so it would be nice to hear it would bolt up! Thanks for any replies!

I don't know the answer to this but I am currently looking for 82 cb750/900 rear disk, caliper, mounting bracket, and stay rod.  I have the 82 brakes up front on my '78 750F and I, like you, am wanting to see if the rear brakes will "bolt-on" like the fronts. Post your findings here if you try it. You may be the first on this forum.

I just got the rear caliper in today and it looks like it bolts up. The 81 caliper came with the mount that goes to the rear axle and it looks like that has to be used, but it all looks like it will fit. Of course I wont know for sure till it all goes back together again this winter or spring..

How about the '78 stabilizer bar( the rod that runs from the front of the swingarm to the caliper bracket ). Will it fit with the '81 parts?

It LOOKS like it will fit. Of course I woun't know for sure until I remove the old bracket. If I were a betting man, I'd say it will work. I'll let you know as soon as I can get the rear wheel off. Hopefully this weekend.
