I got the allen heads.  I had the covers off to change sprockets, and rounded out3 phillips heads in the process.  I thought the allen heads were easier to reassemble with too.

I am a purist and a pragmatist, so covers I take off regularly like the points cover has been converted to SS hex and it looks fine.

I have newly chromed covers, so I got chrome cover screws from Cycle Exchange.  They're about twice the price of SS, but I think they look better against polished chrome.

Even though I an also a purist, I went with the stainless allens. Have less leakage from the right cover since you can make them tighter.

OK then, I'll throw in another option - Polished stainless allen heads. Thats the set I'll use when I put my project engine together. I have "black" allen heads on my side engine covers. Very minimal rust that a little oil takes care of. Sure makes it easy to take off and put back on. Haven't stripped a allen head head yet but I did strip threads in the case in which case I learned how easy it is to install a heli coil.

I think this matters just what kind of build you are doing. If I am doing a cafe build I use Allens.
