« on: June 23, 2014, 06:34:27 PM »
Head gasket blew out because a head nut kept coming loose even though i torqued to spec gunna use loctite this time.

Its a tiny tiny bit out but i think its an insignificant amount, what do you guys thing? also the exhaust mark is lined up perfect you just can't see it in the picture for some reason.

As long as the marks on the cam are somewhere within the "divot mark" on the head, even if some of it partially out, then it's my understanding that it's correct.

Whether or not you can get it closer is doubtful, but Bill lane would have the ultimate knowledge of this.

I'd run with it - you probably won't get it any closer than that.

Seems to me that the stroke never wants to stay at tdc, and the mark may line up a bit different if you try to roll it backwards.

That "run by" at TDC compression stroke is typical of 180 degree twins.
Turning backwards is to be discouraged at all times.........

if bill lane says its good enough, thats enough for me! the exhaust cam is the hardest because it wants to roll through the timing mark and the crank wants to roll past LT. I got worried because the last time I timed my bike before the head nut came loose and murdered my gasket I got it perfect dead on so I never got to learn how much leeway i have with the marks.
