I did not choose that option as I was unsure if the recipient would have the fees deducted.  Can somebody who knows possibly clarify this for the rest?

Hi Scottly. I am still in England at the moment so best to just go with what Bill says. I may well be over there soon to help get the old bugger back over here if he is still a bit bashed up when they are ready to release him.

I cried crocodile tears today after talking with/to Sammy. The tough old bird is somewhat with it but has a long road that'll continue after his release.
For folks outside the SOHC group the FaceBook page Sam Green's road to recovery will be launched as soon as I get home. You can find updates and comment as well.

Bill and I are getting things back to normal for Bill, so he can manage once Sam is released.
We're still gonna need your support, but Sammy knows you are out there pulling for him.

I'm in.  Getting an error message from PayPal, but will try again in a bit.

In any case, thankfully he's from a civilized society - and, if I understand correctly, the UK NHS should cover most of Sam's medical expenses.

Well, they have had enough of him in the ICU unit and have fobbed him off to an intermediate ward. I wasn't able to talk to him as the nurse said he was snoring away and had done nothing else apart from that since they moved him, starting to sound like what he does when at home :) He no longer has the catheter to the brain but still has one to the chest with a little discharge. Still very groggy but is answering yes and no to questions, i am not getting ahead of myself but things are looking better :) Thank you all for the get well wishes but big thanks to Bill Benton and Larry Romig for being there with him and for him being able to hear your voices, i am sure this has made a big difference to his recovery.

Doctor_D, the NHS will only cover him for any treatment in the UK, hopefully his insurance will cover him while in the US. I am in the process of sorting things out with the insurers, not the easiest things to do when on the other side of the pond! I have just spoke with the clinical social worker again and she is very keen to get him back to the UK. We will just have to wait and see how soon that will be.
