cb750f ignition switch

My ignition switch on my 1975 cb750f is messed up. I wanted to replace it with 1982 cb400 I have, but I worried to mess up with wiring.

Only five wires:

CB750:  RED -  BLACK - BROWN - BROWN -             BROWN/WHITE

CB400:  RED -  BLACK - BROWN - BLACK/WHITE -   BROWN/WHITE

Can I just hook them up accordingly?

I read that miss-connecting these wires might damage the charging system, is that true?
