cb500 Frankenstein frame color choice
« on: June 22, 2014, 02:06:10 PM »
Hi everyone.
I realism this is a bit backwards but will ask for your opinion on frame color and then repost my build. Shall I go gold, copper, dark caramel, flat black or straight black gloss on the frame?
Thanks.

Anything but flat colors -- they will make the frame look dirty.

I'm not sure about a caramel, but lighter metalics seem work well, depending on what you paint scheme is for your body work.  The brighter metalics seem to work better with dark paint to provide some contrast.  If you go with a brighter color paint, it may end up looking like psychedelic vomit.  :P

What color will you paint the tank/seat/side covers?  Consider those color in tandem with the frame.

Concur - not flat.

Depends on the look you want, I think black frame with black body parts looks sleek, black with colored bits make the bits pop, colored frame gives it sort of a naked feel like more modern bikes.
I vote copper, just cause. : )
Otherwise I'm always a fan of gloss/semi gloss black.

My vote:
1.  Silver
2.  Metalic gold/copper/bronze
3.  Gloss black with as many parts polished or chromed as possible.  A black on black, blacked out engine looks marginal at best.

Silver/chrome frame with tan seat, looks odd does it not?
I am leaning towards a medium tan or beige frame or gloss black.
There will be some polished parts on engine...carb bowls etc....

Actually, my buddy has a black frame on his 550 with a tan/root beer/grey color scheme for his tank and seat base using a tan leather seat.  It looks very good together.  I will get a photo next time I see his bike and send it to you.

Cheers!
