Finished cb650 BratStyle video/pics
« on: June 26, 2014, 05:23:59 PM »
This is an 82 cb650sc NightHawk

Previous owner let a friend go at it and attempt to make it cool.
Well he started just about everything and finished nothing.

Got parts ordered and have been shipped.

New wassel style tank, new Sullys seat, amber lenses leadlight.

So far I've cleaned up the frame. Cut most of the unwanted tabs.
I have a set of Harley shocks on the rear. They aren't properly bolted down yet. Just for mock up.
Fender is re mounted, different location.
Lowered the forks 1 and 1/8th
I ripped out all the wires and have sorted out a simplified version.

Just need to re purpose the old wires to the proper lengths and solder them up.

Yet to come is shave the trees up a bit.
Fab up some side covers.
Go throught the cabs and rejet. (No pods vs rejetting debates please ).
Making baffles for each pipe and adding a bit of tube.
Removing the engine and plan a clean and repaint.
Thinking about raking the Neck.

I've never done it, but I'm one of those types that read and then do. I'm good at that.

Here's some pics. I'm bad at documenting but I'm do take pics of the progress.

There are two different tanks in these pix. The original 82 cb650sc nighthawk tank, and a 1982 cb450sc nighthawk tank.

I'll be selling the side covers and both tanks, the original seat (no skin).

Stay tuned.

What did I do with it... Like modify? Or are you asking if I still have it?

I did no modifications to the tank, and yes it's for sale. :)

The tank is really clean on the inside. A simple rinse with acetone (ruins paint) should put it near perfect on the in side.

No dents. I'll post some close ups tomorrow. :)

Tell me where a outs you are located, so I can get you an estimate on shipping.

$65+ shipping sound competitive for a cherry tank?

Do you want the emblems (wings )?

Here's some info on doing a big bore on a 650. The thread also discusses hybrid engines, so you'll have to read past the 550 stuff.
