Let's change this thread title! "Free at last, free at last, thank God I'm free at last!" has a nice ring to it-
I'll be picking up Sam near 11AM today. Then, if the hospital has their game on, we will get underway to Atlanta (560 mi). Normally, I'd make the drive in about 8 hours, but will need to go easy and be prepared to stop and stretch as Sam wants.
Also, will need to make sure Sam doesn't have any motion sickness since he's been so sedentary for 3 weeks. The other evening while visiting, was walking him about the ward floor, and had him shut his eyes to test his balance. All good. Then take a few steps with eyes closed, same. So I'm not expecting any problems, but will just go along and let him enjoy the view.
Depending upon his comfort, we make cut the drive to 2 pieces, else we will be landing late this evening. I'm sure Sam will be wicked excited to see Bill again and be out of hospital. We will see how the trip goes, and special anecdotes that surface, I'll post here. And perhaps a progress report if given the safe opportunity.
Otherwise, from tomorrow, Sam will be responsible for posting for himself
Been a real pleasure and privilege, Gents. He's a special guy, and very lucky to have so many dear friends as the whole of you.
(A little southern vernacular for you: the plural of "you" when spoken here abouts is "y'all". The "whole of you" is spoken as "all y'all". I'm trying to teach Sam these finer points, so keep an eye out ;-)
