Jaknight,

Very valid points. Honda made a bunch of changes that do not seem necessary. Why not 1 bleeder period?! Too late now however. I had to deal with the nice folks at Speed Bleeder twice myself. They just don't have a good reference. They did ask me whether the caliper was Tokiko or Nissin (spelling?). Thats just too difficult.  Ideally, when we get a completed list for ALL SOHC's, let's verify the information then post in in FAQ and forward a copy to Speed Bleeder. They really need to be approached to be a sponsor of this website with us directing business their way. The appropriate person should be able to accomplish both.

Good idea!

Also, with all the love being shown to Seafoam, maybe they should be approached too....?

Sorry, I didn't realize how complete Jerry's first list was.  I've taken his reference of Honda bleeder part numbers and expanded it out by models. Should have done that the first time.  :-\  Thanks, Jerry!

If it's any small amount of consolation, Honda standardized on the bleeders used in the F2 & F3.  They're still using that size in their new bikes.

I tried to catch all the Honda SOHC models, but let me know if I've missed any, and I haven't yet found a the SB size to fit the last group, which includes the CB650.

Edit 26 Sept: Added ref.'s for '75 F series (matches '76 F series).

Inside the nipple part of the bleeder (there's that word again) there is a spring and a small ball which acts as a one-way valve. When you loosen the bleeder and apply pressure to the system (squeeze the lever) the ball is pushed against the spring and the opening at the end of the bleeder opens, allowing brake fluid to escape. When you release pressure on the lever the ball is pushed against the opening by the spring, thus stopping air from entering the system.

maybe i should get a set of these... not having much luck with the '78 750F and getting the brakes as stiff as i'd like them.

may as well order a set for the VFR while i'm at it... haven't bled that bike yet - but i imagine it's a lot harder to do that the cb due to the linked braking setup.

Hey superchode, I'm having some braided stainless steel lines madeup for my 78 cb750f. I had to get two sets for the minimum order. Let me know if your interested in one. I may get more made up if there is someone else looking. Don't know a for sure price yet. under $200 for all 4 lines I'm sure.

definately interested. however... i need a longer than stock line running from the front master cylinder to the splitter. i'm not sure if the line i have is improper or i ended up with a non-stock set of bars somehow... but it's way too tight.  maybe you could tell me what length you've got for that one so i can compare - the others should be just peachy as stock.

if you can meet that requirement.. gimme a price for the set and i'll get on board - i'm starting to suspect that my old brake lines are a more that minor culprit of my spongy brakes.

Let me know the length you need on the top hose and I'll get a more definite price. I don't know about Honda, but Harley Davidson recommends changing out brake lines every 10 years or something. Maybe another ploy to sell inflated priced parts!!??!!

The Hoses I have are 13" top, 19" bottoms and 17" rear.

OK guys..  I got mine today, and comparing it with a stock bleeder, it looks like the threads are the same, but the speed bleeder is longer than the stock unit by maybe 1/4"?  Is this what you guys noticed too?  If so, my guess is even though it is longer it still works fine in the caliper?

Either that, or, the bleeder that I got was mis-packaged..

Hi putnaja1,

No sweat on the greater length ;)..........

It is some extra room to accommodate the mechanism (spring and small ball bearing) that is inside to make the Speed Bleeder do what it dooooooooes........ :D

If it had an "L" in the item number it is indeed a little longer. That's not a problem. Just sticks up a little higher. What bike and what Speed Bleeder number?
