I need help to refine search on craigslist
« on: August 27, 2014, 03:16:18 AM »
Hello,
I am not American and I started searching craigslist for a CB750 four K0 to K7 in the whole of the US. This website is irritating as it has no Nationwide search and very few selection tools.
A quick google search brought up a few methods to make a craigslist nationwide search: I add the string "site:craigslist.org" in the google search box.

However, this method doesn't let me refine by year or by private/dealer/all.
An other issue is that this method picks up a lot of generic hits for a whole city area, which may or may not include a CB750. So I have to sift through that whole section anyway.

Does any one know a better method to search craigslist Nationwide with "refine search" tools which actually works well or better than this system which I just used?

Thanks for any help.

You search is unique, CL is oriented for local advertisement, did you try this:

http://www.searchtempest.com/

Also there is a scandal every so often involving CL, be careful.

Did you try cycle trader?  Look at this:

I just learned about searchtempest.com and I used it twice with success.
The tough part about dealing w/ a 'local oriented' site such as craigslist.org is that sometimes it's difficult to actually 'deal' w/ folks(sellers) that know you're coming from far away. I think I could have been treated more honestly & w/ more straightforward 'matter of fact' integrity if the craigslist seller knew that I just lived 'around the corner' from him and the possibility existed that I could return to him/her as a seller w/ issues.  just my '2 cents'  ::)
I was happy to be able to find the bikes though and it was a good way to locate what was 'out there' for me at the time but,as far as craigslist, I would much rather deal with sellers who are Local when at all possible. Ebay can get expensive  sometimes but it's nice to have that '3rd party' who is able to keep things honest to a degree.  ;)

I love the small ones too !
Do your BEST...nobody can take that away from you.

hmmm.... never thought of that... you have a good point. Especially since I'm buying from Japan and I wouldn't have a clue how to file a complaint for misrepresentation of facts in the state where the bike is listed. You've got a point.
eBay, on the other hand, does not offer the money back warranty to non US residents. But there are companies that can operate in your name (for a small fee) on eBay.

You have a good point... thanks for the heads up!

I use a g-mail notification feature.  It is a free e-mail service, and you can have it search all craigslist automaticly. It sends you an e-mail notification every time the chosen words show up.

Also try:
