Cb650 cam in a cb550 service limit question
« on: July 16, 2014, 08:12:12 PM »
Im reading along people doing this upgrade and i noticed that the cb550 has a greater service limit than the cb650.

I also noticed that the height of the 550 inlet is less than the 650 inlet lobe yet the 550 has a great service
Limit why? Arent the lobes values suppose to decrease over time (wear)?

Lastly, if doing a 650 cam on a 550, whats an acceptable 650 inlet and exhaust cam height? Would a 650 cam thats .015 mm below its service limit be usable on a 550?

Thanks

650 cam is about 1mm on both inlet and exhaust longer duration than 550, so I think it will be a while until the cam worn down to 550 service limits, or by that time your bike may be 5 new owners down the line.

I have them on my 2 bikes. Runs great
