I think the day isn't far off when the K7 and K8 bikes will jump in value and I have started to notice the prices creep up since 2009 when I bought my K7.  The combined stock tank / seat and 4 into 4 exhaust lines really work for me.  The problems come into play (IMHO) when you  lose the stock exhaust.  I have both style k's and (again IMHO) the K7 and 8's are better bikes.

Even if it was completely restored it is not worth $5000.

Look at the plug in where the alternator plugs into the wiring harness, and the voltage regulator for serious corrosion problems.

Remember that this bike is almost 40 years old and the cam chain rollers could be dried up and crumbling and there could be bits of rubber in the oil sump.
If it has been sitting the carbs could need work, and the clutch plates could be stuck together.

$3000 is quick spent when restoring a CB750.
But the parts as 4-4 cost half for a K7 compared with a K0-K6.
K7 in very good condition can be found here for $5000 while the older cost much more

Yep..I wouldn't sell mine for a dime less than 5k.

eBay is one thing, but on a recent trip when I was pulled over to refuel, some guy came by and offered me his Jeep and a trailer for it. The demand is very high for any SOHC CB750 in unmolested condition. I totally agree that these will continue to get more and more dollars.

$3000 is quick spent when restoring a CB750.

+1. $3,000 won't be enough for a full 10-point restoration, either. I have at least 3k into mine, and it ain't no 10-pointer, but it turns heads and I always get (bothered) praise. It's nice enough to win 2nd place for "Best in Show" out of 35 bikes at the local VJMC event. One guy approached me at a classic salvage yard and said he's never seen a 78 look as good as what I did to it and that it was "far cry better than stock." He gave me his card and told me to contact him before I put it for sale in the future...it does have a tendency to fool people.

Plus, they are awesome bikes. I would love to get a chance to ride on an older SOHC, but I must say, these models are bullet proof, smooth, perfectly balanced, and powerful. They're fantastic bikes. Even with the "cheaper looking" pipes, I think they sound the best too from the earlier SOHCs that I've listened too (was not impressed).

That day may be here sooner than later.  I checked ebay last night and there was a K8 in KS that had 30 bids and was going for $6,500.   The bike looked spotless and had 4,500 miles on it.  The funny thing is that I looked for it this morning to see what it actually went for but could not find it, the seller must have pulled the auction?  I did note on the completed listings that these bikes are still pretty solidly selling in the $3k range with some $4k and $4.5k outliers.... and then this one that presumably went for $6.5k+
Good sign, time to stock-up.

I don't know why someone would dog a bike they know nothing about. The bike has not sat and has been maintained perfectly, for one and has none of these problems.Second why degrade and talk down the value of something you supposedly like? No one on here sets the value of anything the market does that.Whether you are selling a 68 Chevelle SS or an old lamp it is worth what somebody will pay for it. I didn't want to start a haters convention.I've always loved the bike and now have to sell it,I had a F model in 75 and never got over them.To me I've had way more than 5000 or whatever number the perceived value is, enjoyment out of the bike and that's what this is supposed to be about.

Totally agree. People whining about the price; some may be self-centered. Many here are flippers who buy and sell 20 bikes a year. They are NOT the intended population who would want to pay good money for these classic bikes. They are only looking at what "they" would pay as subject matter experts. They only go after stuff that's dirt cheap, well below market price, and original condition. Good for them (I do it too), but not all buyers are flippers.

Most of the population (maybe not so much eBay) on craigslist, bike shows, etc who see a VERY nice original CB750 they would gladly pay thousands for.

Good luck with your sell man! 5 days left and at nearly $3,000. I'm excited to see what it goes for.

I've fallen in love w/ every one of these vintage bikes I've owned ... I'm w/ ozpacman, there's an intrinsic value in them for me that's impossible to put a $$$$ figure on.

But, they're worth what they'll bring.

I hope I never have to sell any of mine, even though I'm running out of garage space  ??? I'm so GD warped that I've actually willed them a friend of mine, just to make sure they go to a good home.

Hey me too. I still have a couple of small ones that I ride in the neighborhood, neck just won't let me go more than a few miles.I'm like you I didn't think I would ever sell it,but I would rather see someone else enjoy it than trailer it to shows or sit it in the shop and just look at it.They should be ridden.

Sorry to hear about the neck problems  :( Sucks to get old - I've got back problems and a hinky shoulder from hitting a deer at 80 mph on a bike about 10 year ago. Count myself lucky tho, all things considered.

Looks like you're getting close to your price - good luck. It's a beautiful bike ... a nice 750 is next on my list -- it's obvious you put a lot of time and attention into yours  8)

For the guys who were positive: for your reference,I got 5225.00.I took it down because the guy is in Houston and makes the transaction easier.I'll never know how high it might have gone, but I think it is fair and he is excited about the bike.Had several e-mails from California and a couple from Washington.I have never sold a bike on the net,but figured it would be more of a hassle out of state and me and the buyer are happy so onward to the small neighborhood bikes. To all of you who were supportive thanks,to all the downers,na,na,.....na,na,na.

Hill,
Were you one "na" short on the nanny, or am I singing the wrong song? At any rate, your sale and positive the reports of others about the 77's and 78's makes me feel good. I have no intention of parting with my 78, but I paid $1,500 a year ago for a non running Black 750K that had sat garaged for years, 100% stock, even with that "sporty" luggage rack, and I feel darn good about my investment (about $2K total) right about now, and I do admit...it is my favorite ride and it is a head turner for those that know what they're looking at. Congratulations.

Thanks man and congrats on yours. They are great bikes.I think in the long term they will hold or increase in value as people realize that old is cool and these bikes will deliver right up there with the present day bikes to a certain extent for a fraction of the cost. When you drive up and there are 50 bikes and yours is the one everyone is looking at and asking about, what's that worth?
