Europe got 550 bottom ends with 500 barrels, might be why the year seems odd?

Honda did actually: the CB500K3. A little over 4000 to be exported to some European countries.
I remember Tsubaki has a camchain for the 500/550 and so does DID: the DID 219 T88. 88 indicating the number of links. Some brands may have to be riveted, some come with a split link.

I thought most CB500K3s went to Scandinavia. Anyway you can read the cc's on the engine front side. BTW parts list for your bike is here: http://www.honda4fun.com/pdf_parts_list/pdf_spac500-550/CB500-550_K3-K4.pdf
And the Honda Shop Manual CB500-550 can be found here: http://www.honda4fun.com/materiale-documentazione-tecnica/shop-manual
